Find and connect with local riders, guides and experts all over the world or become one. Discover new friends, explore the best spots and experience the best lines. Learn new stuff or earn extra money by coaching others. Plan ahead and enjoy the local vibe.

 

Signing Up

Creating a profile

To create a Guidify account simply log in with your Facebook or your Google account. It’s simple and it’s free.  Once signed up, don’t forget to complete your profile by entering your activities, experiences, language and detailed description. The more information you share about yourself, the better.

Getting verified (TBA)

You can verify your account by donating 1 EUR with your credit card, which will help us confirm your identity. As a verified user you’ll get to set your preferred payment compensation, you’ll receive a badge and the trust of other users.

 

Finding guides (The feed)

Guidify home screen

Guidify automatically lists visible guides near you using your current geolocation. Browse guides by scrolling down the list and quickly check their rating, distance from your current location, activities and availability. Use filters to narrow down your results.

To start finding guides:

  1. Open Guidify and log in with your Facebook or Google account.
  2. Go to home tab.
  3. Wait until nearby guides are listed in your feed. This may take a few seconds. NOTE: If the loader won’t stop, please shut down Guidify and try opening it again.
  4. Filter guides by tapping the “Filters” button at the bottom of the screen or
  5. Change location and distance by taping the links in the toolbar beneath the Guidify logo.
  6. The list will be updated automatically.

 

Using filters

Nearby (geolocation)

Guidify will list all the people near your current location on your Guidify homescreen using the  location settings of your mobile device. The default radius is set to 150 km.

To narrow down the searching distance:

  1. Open filters by tapping the “Filters” button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Use the distance slider to narrow down the distance.
  3. Click the “Apply” button to apply changes.

By location

You can search guides in other locations by changing your current location. Think of it as teleporting yourself to another location.

To search guides in other locations:

  1. Go to filters by tapping the “Filters” button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap on the location title or the search icon on the right.
  3. Start entering your desired location and choose from the suggestions pull down menu.
  4. Tap the “Apply” button to confirm the changes.

Your guide list will be updated with guides in a 150 km radius of your entered location. Use other filters like activities, distance and experiences to narrow down the search.

By status

Filter guides by their availability status. Guides have an option to make themselves available by flipping the “Available as guide” toggle switch in the side menu.  By choosing this option, you can only show guides that are currently available.

By fees

Guidify has 3 options to get compensated for guiding, coaching or any other provided experiences: for free, for a beer or by getting payed. Because we are all about community, you can filter guides to show only those that are willing to help you out for free.

By activities

Choose one or more activities to filter listed guides by your favorite activities or interests such as surfing, mountain biking, rock climbing, photography or clubbing.

  1. Go to filters by tapping the “Filters” button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select one or more activities by taping the check boxes next to the activity.
  3. Tap the “Apply” button to confirm the changes.

By experiences

Experiences are one of the most important features on Guidify. Choose between one or more amenities you would like to experience, like guiding, tuition, rental, hosting etc. and show only guides that offer those.

  1. Go to filters by tapping the “Filters” button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select one or more experiences by taping the check boxes next to experiences.
  3. Tap the “Apply” button to confirm the changes.

By language

Narrow down your search by using one or more language options.

  1. Go to filters by tapping the “Filters” button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select one or more languages by taping the check boxes next to them.
  3. Tap the “Apply” button to confirm the changes.

By gender

Use this filter to show only men, women or both by flipping the toggle switch. Click “Apply” button to apply changes.

 

Guide profile

View the profile, ratings and other information to learn more about the guide. The more information people share, the better. For everything else connect, chat and meet.

Name and availability

Shows the guide's first name and last name as they are set and displayed on their Facebook or Google profiles. Note that the name can be an alias or a nickname. The indicator next to the name shows whether the guide is available for guiding or not. If green, the guide is available. To change your status, go to user settings.

Distance

Shows how far away the guide is from your current location or the location you are searching guides in. If for example you are currently located in London and searching guides nearby, the distance displayed should be more or less accurate. But if you are currently located in London and searching guides in Paris, the distance shown, is the estimate distance between the location we chose for you as a reference point and the guide’s real current position. It should be good enough though.

Ratings

Users can check the overall guide ratings or submit star ratings to describe the experiences with the guide by clicking on the stars. The more stars a guide has, the better the experience. The number on the right shows the number of users that submitted their vote.

Pricing

Pricing on the right shows the compensation the guide is willing share his experiences for. There are 3 major compensation options that guides can choose from:

  • For free,
  • for a beer and
  • for a payment compensation.

Location

Location shows the guides current location and is updated as he moves. Location helps users narrow down guides nearby.

If you would like to make your card invisible to others:

  1. Go to your profile by tapping the user tab.
  2. Tap the settings icon
  3. Turn off the “Visibility” toggle switch.
  4. Tap the “Save changes” button to apply changes.

Language

This section shows languages spoken or understood by the guide.

Activities

Guidify is for riders, adventurers and action sport enthusiasts. To keep the circle small and true, we have decided to make a limited list of outdoor, adventure and action sport activities. Currently you can choose between following activities:

Experiences

Experiences are amenities, excursions and other activities led by local guides to help you upgrade your skills, learn about new terrain or provide unique access into places and communities. Currently you can choose between the following experiences:

  • Guiding (The guide will show you the best trails, secret spots, safe zones etc.).
  • Tuition (The guide will help you develop your skills, give you some tips on your technique or provide an insight in best local practices).
  • Rental (The guide will rent the necessary equipment).
  • Hosting (The guide will provide a place to crash or to stay).
  • Clubbing (The guide will show you around his cities, best places and current events).
  • Shuttle (The guide will shuttle you to the top of the hill).

Contact guide button

Tap the “Contact guide” button to open the messenger tab and start a chat with the guide.

 

Messages

At it’s core Guidify is a messaging app that helps you find and connect with people that share the same enthusiasm, passion and love for discovering and experiencing new and exciting things. That’s why we have equipped this app with some essential and indispensable features.

Recent chats (list)

Shows all your chats in a list sorted by the most recent chat at the top of the list.

Unread messages

The red dot under the chat icon in the bottom menu indicates unread messages. Once clicked, the chat list opens and the red dot indicator disappears. The chat list offers a more detailed view of your chat history and recent activity. The green dot in the top right corner of the user profile picture indicates the number of unread messages. Once you open the chat, the message will be considered as “seen” and the green indicator will disappear.

Starting a chat

To start a chat:

  • Go to the home tab to browse guides nearby or filter local guides by places or activities, or
  • go to the “Friends” tab in the bottom menu and search for your friends by name or nickname.

Writing a message

To write a message:

  1. Go to the Messages tab.
  2. Open a chat from the list.
  3. Enter the message in to the “Type a message” field”.
  4. Tap the send button on the right.

Sending attachments

Guidify allows you to send stickers, photos and you current location in your messages.

To send attachments:

  1. Open chat.
  2. Tap the + (plus) icon on the bottom left side.
  3. Choose what you wish to send:
    • Sticketrs: To send stickers tap the sticker icon. Stickers help you express yourself better.
    • Photos: To open your camera and send a photo tap the camera icon.
    • Images: To select an existing photo or video tap the gallery icon.
    • Location: To send your current location tap the location icon.

Chat settings

  1. To change chat settings:
  2. Open chat.
  3. Tap the “three dots” icon in the top right corner.
  4. Choose the action from pull down menu:
    • Mute notifications: To mute the sound notification from current chat.
    • Block: To block a user.
    • Report: To send us a report about this user.

Group chats

Guidify lets you create and name groups to get or stay in touch with your friends, arrange group rides, share messages, photos, videos or stickers.

Creating a group:

  1. Go to the chat tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the + (plus) icon in the top right corner.
  3. Tap “New group” in the pop up dialog box.
  4. Enter the name of your group.
  5. Tap the “camera” icon to add the group profile picture.
  6. Add participants by taping the checkboxes in the list below.
  7. Tap the CREATE button in the top right corner.

Group settings:

  1. Changing group name
  2. Changing group image
  3. Muting notifications
  4. Adding people
  5. Leaving the group
  6. Assigning admins
  7. Removing group participants

 

Friends & Followers

Guidify lets you search and follow friends that already have a Guidify account.

To find friends by their name or username:

  1. Tap the Friends & Followers tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the search icon in the top right corner.
  3. Enter the name in the “Search for friends” field. NOTE: You have to know the users name or nickname to be able to find him.
  4. Select the user from pull down suggestions.

To follow a friend:

  1. Search for a friend by tapping the Friends & Followers tab in the bottom menu or
  2. Browse guides in the Guidify homescreen.
  3. Open a user profile and tap the “Follow” icon.
  4. The user will appear in your “Following” list.

To unfollow a friend:

  1. Go to the Friends & Followers tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the “Following” tab.
  3. Find a friend.
  4. Tap the “Following” button on the right.
  5. The button will change from “Following” to “Follow”.

To see who follows you:

  1. Go to the Friends & Followers tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the “Followers” tab.
  3. Follow by tapping the “Follow” button on the right.

 

Being local (User settings)

Every local is an expert guide on the terrain he knows best. Get a beer or earn some extra money by guiding and tutoring others, renting equipment, hosting friends or shuttling.

User name

The user name is shown to other users under your profile image and is automatically fetched from your Facebook or Google account with which you logged in. You can always change your username.

To change your user name:

  1. Go to the User profile tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Enter a new name.
  4. Save changes by tapping the “Save changes” button.

Guiding preferences

Guiding status
Use guiding status to let others know if you are available for a guiding session or not.

To change your guiding status:

  1. Go to the User profile tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Flip the toggle switch to change your guiding status.
  4. Save changes by tapping the “Save changes” button.

The green indicator next to the name indicates if you are available or not. If green, the guide is available. NOTE: Changing this status does not make you invisible to others. To make yourself invisible change your Visibility status.

Visibility
Visibility lets you make your profile invisible to other users. If ON, your profile will no longer be listed in the guides section and on the homescreen. You will still be able to chat with your existing chats.

To change visibility

  1. Go to the user profile tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Flip the toggle switch to change your visibility status.
  4. Save changes by tapping the “Save changes” button.

Fees
Choose how you would like to get payed for sharing your experiences:

  1. Go to the user profile tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Choose one payment option by tapping the radio button on the left: You can choose between 3 options:
    • for free,
    • for a beer or
    • for a certain amount.
  4. Save changes by tapping the “Save changes” button.

If you have selected a Free option, you are willing to share your experiences to hangout and meet new people. If you selected a Beer option, you agree to share your experiences for a glass of beer. And we all know it never stops at one beer. If you choose a Donate option, you can enter any amount for which you are willing to share your experiences. NOTE: This is not an amount per hour, but rather a fair compensation for your overall services. Please read our community guidelines for best practices.

Activities

Select one or more activities you are good at, and would like to share with others. The list of activities is currently limited outdoor, adventure and action sport activities.

  1. Go to the User profile tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Select one or more activities by tapping the checkbox on the left.
  4. Save changes by tapping the “Save changes” button.

Experiences

Select one or more experiences you would like to share with others. The list of experiences is currently limited to 6 basic amenities.

  1. Go to the User profile tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Select one or more experiences by tapping the checkbox on the left.
  4. Save changes by tapping the “Save changes” button.

Languages

Select the languages you can communicate in.

  1. Go to the User profile tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Select one or more languages by tapping the checkbox on the left.
  4. Save changes by tapping the “Save changes” button.

Gender

Select your gender. This will be shown in your profile and will help others filter and narrow down the search results.

  1. Go to the User profile tab in the bottom menu.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Select one option by tapping the radio button on the left.
  4. Save changes by tapping the “Save changes” button.

Description

Probably the most important section in your profile. Tell others something about you, your references, hobbies, achievements, values, interests and what you are passionate about and why. Build trust.
